Standing Strong
NAIDOC 2026
Standing strong reflects fifty years of deadly strength, resistance, community and the way our people have always held each other up. At the centre of the artwork are gathering places that represent community, connection and belonging. These are spaces where people come together to yarn, organise, celebrate and support one another. The same spaces that have sustained naidoc as more than just a week, but a movement led by mob. From these meeting places, pathways flow outward across the artwork, following the natural rhythm of country. These lines represent songlines, journeys and shared stories, symbolising the generations of people who have carried culture forward. They reflect the steady momentum built over fifty years. Voices joining together, paths crossing and strength growing through unity and persistence. Animal tracks and footprints appear throughout the design as a marker of survival and legacy. They honour the elders, organisers, artists and community members who walked before us and acknowledge those who continue to show up today, keeping culture strong and unapologetically alive. The mountain, water and rock symbols speak to the land itself. Enduring, grounding and resilient. Together, all these elements show that standing strong doesn’t mean standing alone. It’s about connection, shared history and the strength that comes from walking together.
